Bartlesville’s water supply stands at 90 percent full, which is above average for this time of year, Water Utilities Director Terry Lauritsen said Monday.
“We’re at 90 percent when looking at all of our water sources,” Lauritsen said. “For this time of year, that’s a little bit above average, so we are very encouraged with where we are.”
Lauritsen said the wetter than normal spring helped carry the area through relentlessly high temperatures this summer.
“We were blessed with a wet spring, which reinforced our water supply to help us make it through those summer months,” he said.
He said if trends hold, the fall months are likely to keep supply high.
“Typically, October is a wet month for us, so we’re hoping that will continue as it typically does,” he said.
Bartlesville experienced drought conditions most recently in 2023, though water supply never dipped below 50 percent thanks to measures put in place in the years following a severe drought in 2001-02 prompted changes in the City’s drought contingency plan.
