BFD holds special 911 ceremony

The Bartlesville Fire Department Honor Guard paid tribute to those who lost their lives during the attack on New York City on Sept. 11, 2001, during a special ceremony held Tuesday.

Nineteen members of Al Qaeda hijacked four U.S. commercial airplanes and crashed them into the north and south towers of the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in Washington D.C. and a field in Shanksville, Pa. A total of 2,977 people were killed, including 343 Firefighters, 23 New York City police officers and 37 officers at the Port Authority.”

The ceremony began at 9 a.m. at Central Fire Station, 601 S. Johnstone Ave.
