When will Adams Boulevard (west of U.S. Highway 75) be fixed?
This is a fairly common question (and one of the nicer versions) asked of City staff regarding street projects in Bartlesville.
The “problem” is that it isn’t for the City of Bartlesville to say. Adams Boulevard west of Washington Boulevard is a highway and therefore owned and maintained by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), not the City of Bartlesville. This extends from the overpass at Washington Boulevard, which is also a highway (U.S. 75), west through downtown and all the way to the western city limits, at State Highway 123.
According to Director of Engineering Micah Siemers, rehabilitation of Adams Boulevard between Washington Boulevard and State Highway 123 is on ODOT’s eight-year construction work plan and currently under design.
“They are currently working on design for the project,” Siemers said, noting the projected cost of the project is a cool $16.7 million.
“While nothing is set in stone and ODOT sometimes shuffles projects around based on funding availability and need, the right-of-way acquisition and utility relocation phase of the project is currently slated for Federal Fiscal Year 2021 bidding,” he said. “The actual pavement rehabilitation portion of the project is slated for FFY 2025.”
