Bartlesville Kiwanis Club will host its annual “Freedom Fest” event on Tuesday, July 4, in Sooner Park, but individual fireworks are not permitted within the city limits, Fire Marshall Brady Watson said recently.
“Sparklers, ‘snakes,’ and things of that nature that are classified as novelty items rather than fireworks are allowed, but fireworks — anything that makes noise or shoots into the air — are prohibited,” Watson said.
Arranged fireworks displays are permitted for companies that are licensed and have trained personnel to administer classified fireworks, but individual permits are not issued. This does not necessarily apply to other cities in Washington County or rural areas.
The Kiwanis Freedom Fest 2023 festivities will begin at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4. The fireworks display will begin at 9:30 p.m. For more information, see www.bartlesvillekiwanis.org.
