Jul 16, 2025

During its July 7 meeting, the City Council awarded a bid for an $847,000 concrete street rehabilitation project approved by voters in the 2020 General Obligation Bond election.

The project includes concrete rehabilitation of four city streets: Highland Drive (from Sunset Boulevard to Aledo Drive), Wilshire and Waverly (from Frank Phillips Boulevard to State Street), and Oakdale Drive (from Brookside Parkway to Woodland Road).

Each project consists of replacing 80 to 90 percent of the concrete panels within the project limits, as well as minor amounts of curb and gutter which will be replaced as needed.

$1.2 million was originally budgeted for the project, and $30,500 has been used for design services, which left nearly $1.17 million for the construction portion. The project bid was awarded to R&L Construction LLC of Sapulpa.

Construction is expected to start in August and will take approximately 10 months to complete.

Highland Drive was listed as a two-part project (concrete and asphalt) in the 2020 GO Bond election. The asphalt mill and overlay portion of Highland is included in an asphalt street rehabilitation project which is currently out for bid and will include portions of Dewey Avenue, Quail Ridge, Southport, Cambridge and Braddock, all of which were approved by voters in the 2020 GO Bond election.
