Improvements planned for Cooper Dog Park, soccer fields
The City Council voted 5-0 Tuesday to approve a contract with Paragon Contractors of Tulsa to complete parking lot upgrades for Cooper Dog Park and Daniels Soccer Fields. Both are located at the Lee Lake Complex on Adams Boulevard east of Silver Lake Road.
“The base bid for the project consists of replacing existing gravel parking lots at Cooper Dog Park and south of the east soccer fields with paved and curbed parking lots, installing a new connecting drive between Cooper Dog Park and Daniels Fields, and removing two of existing drives off of Adams Boulevard, leaving only the main drive at the traffic light,” Director of Engineering Micah Siemers said in a staff report to the council.
The project, which was approved by voters in the 2020 General Obligation Bond Election, was initially expected to cost $503,100 but increased after additional grading work, sodding, and a soccer field were added to the project scope. Funding in the amount of $23,600 has been utilized for design services, leaving $479,500 for the construction portion of the project. The low base bid, by Paragon Contractors, is $588,501 which is $109,001 over the original remaining budget. Staff has identified additional funding sufficient to offset the budget deficit — $67,000 from unallocated 2018 G.O. Bond funds and $42,001 from Sales Tax Park Funds, making the available budget $588,501.
Work on the project is targeted to begin by the end of the year.
