The internal parkway at Lee Lake will soon be named in honor of longtime City employee Lisa Beeman after the City Council voted on Monday to approve the honorary designation.
“Lisa Beeman Parkway” will honor Beeman’s decades of dedicated service to the City of Bartlesville, including her pivotal role in planning, developing and advocating for parks and recreation initiatives.
Beeman retired as Community Development Director for the City on Nov. 1, 2022, after 30 years of service, before returning in 2024 as part-time grants coordinator for the City.
“Lisa played a pivotal role in planning, developing and advocating for parks and recreation initiatives,” said Community Development Director Larry Curtis. “Her leadership has been instrumental in the expansion and improvement of public amenities, trails, and green spaces throughout the community.”
Park Board members expressed unanimous support for the honorary designation brought forward by City Manager Mike Bailey at a recent meeting. Members recognized it as a fitting tribute to Beeman’s legacy and contributions to the city’s quality of life.
“She meant a lot to this community, a lot to this organization,” said City Manager Mike Bailey. “It has taken me a little bit to find a way to honor her, but I think this a great solution. Thank you for everything, Lisa.”
Mayor Jim Curd pointed out that the proposed parkway touches on many areas that Beeman advocated for in her work — including the cricket fields, dog park, Pathfinder Parkway, Lee Lake, skate park and soccer fields. “She was instrumental in so many good things for the City of Bartlesville,” said Curd. “I’m honored to have that as a parkway for her.”
Signage will be placed at key intersections along the parkway to identify the designation.
