Local drug issues will be the topic of discussion during a Bartlesville Police Department Community Meeting set for 7 p.m. on Thursday (Oct. 20) at East Bartlesville Christian Church, 3221 E. Tuxedo Blvd.
The meeting is part of the department’s ongoing series of community meetings held at different locations throughout Bartlesville to allow citizens to engage with local police officers and command staff.
“This is a way for us to hear first-hand citizen concerns about problems they’re having and learning what they need from the police department,” said BPD Capt. Kevin Ickleberry. “Plus it gives us an opportunity to answer questions and help educate the public on what the department is doing about those concerns and to help reduce crime in our city.”
Ickleberry said Thursday’s meeting will differ a little from the others because it will include more of a presentation than usual.
“We’ll have a K-9 unit there, in addition to the department’s Community Impact Team, and the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics agent assigned to the area is expected to attend,” he said. “We’ll share information about recent drug seizures, overdoses, arrests, and our K-9 program. And, of course, we’ll address any concerns and questions the public has.”
