The City-owned Frontier Swimming Pool is still set to open Memorial Day weekend, on May 25, but the opening of Sooner Pool will be delayed due to a water leak, Public Works Director Keith Henry said today.
The planned opening of both pools was announced in last week’s edition of City Beat; however, in readying the pools for opening, a leak was discovered at Sooner Pool.
“We are in communication with a contractor to try to get the leak repaired as quickly as possible,” Henry said. “Unfortunately, the repairs will be a major undertaking and could take weeks to complete.”
Frontier Pool is located at 312 S.W. Virginia Ave. Sooner Pool is located at 420 S.E. Madison Blvd. Both pools are owned and maintained by the City but are managed and operated by the Richard Kane YMCA.
