Johnstone Park closed temporarily due to storm damage

Lonnie Glenn Johnstone ParkJohnstone Park is closed effective immediately due to damage caused by storms that moved through the area late last night and early this morning.

Parks Superintendent Bobby Robinson said early Wednesday that several trees were damaged and that the park had to be evaluated before being Shayne Sloan Johnstone Parkre-opened to the public.

Upwards of a dozen or so trees in Johnstone Park and the Kiddie Park area were heavily damaged by high winds.

The park will re-open as soon as the tree debris is cleared and the park is determined to be safe.
