Library, BPD, BFD block party set for September 27

Aug 26, 2025

Bartlesville’s favorite Block Party is gearing up to return to downtown Bartlesville — brought to you by the City’s public library and police and fire departments.

The departments, all located in the 600 block of Johnstone Avenue, are hosting their fifth annual Block Party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27. This year’s block party will cover the entire area from the Public Safety Complex on Johnstone Avenue and east down Silas Street to Unity Square and The Center.

“We’re thrilled to invite everyone to this year’s Block Party,” said Police Chief Kevin Ickleberry. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for Bartlesville residents to connect with the police officers and firefighters who serve our community, and to explore the incredible resources offered by our city library. We look forward to seeing everyone on Sept. 27 for a day of fun, connection and celebration.”

Activities include:

  • Live music
  • Barbecue cook-off
  • Free food and drinks
  • Food trucks & business vendors
  • Inflatable obstacle course
  • K-9 & drone demonstrations
  • Emergency vehicles
  • Freebies
  • Friends of the Library bookstore sale
  • Children’s games, photo booth, pony rides & petting zoo
  • Police & fire department tours

Grill masters and barbecue afficionados will not want to miss the barbecue cookoff. Entries are currently being accepted in three categories: ribs, chicken and hamburger. Entry fee for the non-sanctioned “backyard competition” is $20 per team. Prizes will be awarded to first through third place in each category, as well as overall Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion. Registration deadline is Sept. 19.
