Police offer rides on New Year’s Eve

December 17, 2019

Bartlesville Police Department will once again offer free rides home for anyone who gets a little too festive on New Year’s Eve, Roles said this week.

“On New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, 2019, from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., we will provide safe transportation to anyone who may have enjoyed the New Year’s Eve festivities a little too much,” said Police Chief Tracy Roles.

If you have consumed alcohol, DON’T drive — instead call dispatch at 918-338-4001, tell the dispatcher you want to take the chief up on his offer to arrive safe and tell the dispatcher your location. Dispatchers will ensure that someone from the police department will come to your location and provide you with a safe ride home.

“The goal of this event is to minimize impaired driving in our City,” Roles said. “It is our hope that everyone arrives home safely after celebrating the holiday. We further hope people will take advantage of this offer in the interest of public safety.”

All rides must be within Bartlesville city limits. There is no cost for the service. For more information, contact Roles or Sgt. Jim Warring at 918-338-4050.
