Rains continue to increase local water supply

January 30, 2024

Winter rains have resulted in solid gains for Bartlesville’s water supply sources, Water Utilities Director Terry Lauritsen said Monday.

“Lake levels in all of the City’s water sources increased last week,” Lauritsen said. “Copan Lake continues to have water inflow, which is the fourth week in a row that water levels have increased there.”

Lauritsen said Hulah Lake, the City’s primary supply source, also continues to have water inflow.

“Last week the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers reduced the water release out of Hulah for several days at our request,” he said. “With the continuous inflow, lake levels increased fairly rapidly, and the Corp increased the release to preserve the flood control portion of the lake.”

Overall water remaining is 70.9 percent, compared to last week’s 65.7 percent. Weighted Water Storage based on water right is 116.1 percent this week, compared to last week’s 107 percent. Average consumption last week was 5.43 million gallons per day. There are no water restrictions or emergency rates in effect at this time.
