Rocky Bevard has been promoted to deputy police chief following a weeks-long application and interview process. Bevard will have duties involving budget, fleet management, purchasing and event planning. He will also assume command duties in the event that Police Chief Tracy Roles is not available.
Bevard has served the Bartlesville Police Department for 33 years and is a second-generation Bartlesville police officer. Bevard’s father, John Bevard, retired as a BPD captain in 1997. Rocky Bevard is a lifelong Bartlesville resident. He and his wife Niki have two children, Ryan and Ashley.
Bevard has served as the patrol captain for the last nine years. He was one of the first officers assigned to the Bartlesville Special Operations Team. He has also served as a field-training officer, driving instructor and as sergeant and lieutenant of the patrol division. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and has a bachelors degree from Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
“I am very excited to serve the Bartlesville Police Department as deputy police chief as our department continues to professionally protect and serve the citizens of Bartlesville,” Bevard said. “My lifelong career in law enforcement with BPD is cherished each and every day, and my role as deputy police chief will be taken seriously as a leader in our department serving this community with pride, honor and integrity.”
Roles commended Bevard on his promotion.
“It is an honor to appoint Rocky Bevard to the position of deputy chief of police,” Roles said. “Rocky is well deserving and has committed his professional career to the City of Bartlesville and its citizens. The BPD is very lucky to have a dedicated leader like Deputy Chief Bevard.”
