Sewer system smoke testing to start Monday

Jul 30, 2025

The City of Bartlesville will conduct smoke testing on the sanitary sewer system in the Hillcrest Heights area beginning Monday, Aug. 4, through Friday, Aug. 8. This routine testing helps identify defects or improper connections that may cause system overflows during heavy rain events.

What to Expect:

  • Crews will blow non-toxic smoke into the sewer system via manholes under moderate pressure.
  • The area will be monitored for smoke escaping from defective pipes or connections.
  • If smoke enters your home or building, it may indicate a defect. Please inform a nearby crew member immediately so they can investigate.

The smoke is non-toxic, odorless, and is not a fire hazard. To view a map of the affected area, see Smoke Testing for Hillcrest Heights area. If you need more information, call 918.338.4116.
