The Bartlesville City Council will hold a special meeting this week to consider approval of a bid award for a 95-foot Aerial Platform Fire Truck, approved by voters in the 2020 General Obligation Bond Election.
Fire Chief David Topping said two bids were received for the apparatus, one for $1.3 million and another for $1.5 million. He said staff plans to recommend awarding the contract to the low bidder, Daco Fire Equipment.
“Daco Fire Equipment (also) has a delivery time of 45 days, which is 700 days less than the only other bid,” Topping said.
The vehicle will replace the department’s 1975 American La France, 85-foot snorkel Aerial Platform truck. Due to inflation and rising supply costs, the vehicle is over budget by $246,687. If approved by the council, the deficit will be covered by unallocated Half-cent Capital Improvement Project Sales Tax funds.
