Grants Administrator Nancy Warring says racks are still available for businesses located in “bicycle friendly” areas. The bike racks are available through a grant sponsorship program, which covers half the cost of each rack.
The program was initially intended for businesses and organizations in the downtown area but has been expanded to include any business with a need, Warring said.
“We have reached out to downtown businesses again recently in hopes of placing the remaining racks. But we would like to hear from businesses outside the downtown area that might be interested as well,” she said.
The cost for the business is $300 per rack. Warring said a recent push to place the racks has resulted in a couple of organizations willing to sponsor a rack for someone else.
“That’s something to consider, even if you don’t see a need for a rack for your own business,” she said.
