After 38 years of service to the City of Bartlesville, Adams Golf Course Professional Jerry Benedict will retire effective Aug. 16.
Benedict has led the City-owned golf course/club since 1986, when he was tapped to serve as a special contractor to the City of Bartlesville.
“For 38 years, Jerry has served Adams Golf Course and the community through his leadership, technical expertise and ability to provide services and products that help the golf club and everyone who uses it,” said Assistant City Manager Laura Sanders. “We are extremely grateful for his service, and we wish him well in his retirement.”
As a contractor to the City, Benedict is not an employee of the City but acts as the golf club’s director. Benedict owns the golf club’s vehicles and the retail merchandise that is sold at the clubhouse, making these available to members and other users of the club. These items will be purchased by the City to ensure continuity in the club’s offerings, Sanders said.
“We have a lot to accomplish before Jerry retires in August, including inventorying, obtaining an appraisal and purchasing the equipment and merchandise that is currently provided through Jerry’s organization. While these are significant changes for the City, we anticipate a smooth transition with no interruption in services for our club members and users,” she said.
An announcement will be made soon regarding an interim appointment, Sanders said.
