Q&A: Private service would not close City Recycling Center

If Recyclops establishes a curbside recycling program in Bartlesville, will the City close its drop-off center?

The City Recycling Center, located on 10th Street just east of Virginia Ave., will remain open whether Recyclops, a private, rural recycling company based in Utah, establishes curbside service in the Bartlesville and Dewey area or not.

For those who may not have heard, Recyclops has said it would offer a curbside service for a $10 monthly fee (only) if 500 people in the Bartlesville and Dewey area sign up for the service. At last check, that requirement had been met; however, some people who signed up did not give their billing information, which is required. So anyone who wants the service but didn’t submit billing information when they registered will need to go back and add it for their submission to be counted. The company has indicated to Ward 2 City Councilor Paul Stuart that charges would not apply until the service begins.

Recyclops is a privately owned company and not affiliated with the City of Bartlesville.
