Cimarron Transit plans public forum February 5

January 14, 2019

United Community Action Program/Cimarron Public Transit will hold community forums in January and February related to public transportation for several Oklahoma counties, including Washington County. Cimarron Public Transit manages and operates the City of Bartlesville’s public transportation program, CityRide.

The Bartlesville forum will be held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 5 in the Bartlesville Public Library’s meeting room C.

CPT is requesting input from riders, local businesses, municipalities, social service agencies, Tribes, private providers, health facilities, elected officials and the general public to assist in preparing for the future, said CPT Transit Director Laura Corff.

“The advantage of receiving open communication is to help the program better match service with needs,” Corff said.

The program must prepare for a variety of scenarios during uncertain times, she said.

“Priorities will be focused on sustainability and aligning available resources most efficiently to meet the greatest needs,” Corff said.

Feedback will be given directly to program staff to provide a better understanding of challenges and concerns from the community’s perspective. CPT recently submitted a letter of intent to Oklahoma Department of Transportation to apply for federal assistance for program year 2020, to operate a rural transit program. The transportation plan will be incorporated into the agency’s annual application for funding under Section 5311 formula grants for Rural Areas Program, which is due to ODOT by March 31.
