CityRide program to undergo expansion; drivers needed

September 22, 2020

City of Bartlesville transit system CityRide will soon begin offering expanded hours of service thanks to an upcoming pilot project that includes Bartlesville and three other Oklahoma communities. The service will be adding drivers as well to help operate the enhanced system.

CityRide, which is operated by Cimarron Public Transit System under the umbrella of United Community Action Program, offers low cost rides to citizens within the city limits of Bartlesville The City of Bartlesville provides funding for the service, in addition to Federal and State funding CPTS/UCAP receives.

“UCAP is hiring drivers for the upcoming mobility on demand pilot project, which is called PICK,” CPTS Transit Director Laura Corff said recently. “The project will utilize a computer app for scheduling purposes, identifying the vehicle and the driver as well as an estimated time of arrival.

“I am most excited about this pilot as it will meet a need the public has been asking for. The past few years during our annual public transit forums, Bartlesville attendees continue to ask for evening and weekend service. This project allows us to do that with cool mobile technology.”

Under the new PICK program, CityRide service will be available from 5-10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. The hourly wage for PICK drivers is $10.

In addition to the pilot program’s service hours, CityRide will continue its daytime service between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with limited Saturday service. Drivers are needed for the daytime service as well, Corff said. The hourly wage for daytime drivers is $9.

Training will be provided and benefits are available to drivers of both programs. Applications are available online at www.ucapinc.org or call 918.762.3041 Ext. 182 for more information. All CityRide vehicles are ADA accessible.
