Members sought for Tower Green Design Committee

April 18, 2018

The search is officially underway for three citizens interested in serving on the Tower Green Design Committee following approval of a resolution creating the committee by the City Council on Monday.

The “Price Tower Green” project was approved by voters for $1.75 million in funding during the March 6 General Obligation (G.O.) Bond Election. The project consists of constructing a public gathering space between the Price Tower and the Bartlesville Community Center. A portion of Silas Street, formerly Sixth Street, will be closed to accommodate the project.

A resolution was passed by the council on Monday creating the committee, which will be tasked with gathering public input on how to best shape the gathering space, select a design plan and amenities for the project, then present the plan and product recommendations to the Bartlesville City Council for final consideration.

In addition to three “at large” members, committee members will consist of two City Councilors and one representative each of the Community Center Trust Authority and the Price Tower Arts Center Board of Trustees. Ward 3 Councilor Jim Curd and Ward 4 Councilor Alan Gentges will serve on the committee on behalf of the council.

Citizens interested in being appointed to the committee are encouraged to complete an application before April 27. Applications are available on the City of Bartlesville’s website, www.cityofbartlesville.org (see Boards, Committees & Commissions), or in the City Manager’s Office, located on the second floor of City Hall, 401 S. Johnstone Ave.
