Public hearings scheduled for TIF districts

Two public hearings that were recently rescheduled will be held during a special City Council meeting on Monday.

Set for the Monday (Oct. 16) meeting are:

  • TIF District No. 7 — Public comment is sought regarding the proposed termination of TIF District No. 7, which relates to the previously approved Hillcrest Retirement Village. The City’s TIF consultant Nate Ellis of the Public Finance Law Group has recommended the district be terminated and that the Tax Increment Finance Review Committee consider possible recommendation of a new district for the retirement village. The new district is proposed as TIF District No. 12, commonly known as The Wellington at Hillcrest.
  • TIF District No. 12 — This is the first of two hearings scheduled for public comment relating to the creation of TIF District No. 12, for the development of a retirement village near Silver Lake Road and Nowata Road, to be known as The Wellington at Hillcrest.
  • TIF District No. 9 — This is the second of two hearings scheduled for public comment relating to TIF District No. 9 for the proposed Bison Trails Apartments Project. The TIF Review Committee recently reviewed an amended project plan calling for the extension of the duration of the district. The first phase of the project, which is currently under consideration, includes the construction of 158 units near Nowata Road and Bison Road.

The hearings will be held during a special City Council meeting beginning at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 401 S. Johnstone Ave. Everyone is welcome to attend. City Council meetings may also be viewed on the City’s Webcast and are televised on Cable One.
