Service for K-9 Apollo set for Sunday

Jun 3, 2018

A memorial service will be held for Bartlesville Police Department K-9 Officer Apollo, who died May 19 following a sudden illness. He was 9.

The service is set for 7 p.m. on June 10 at the Bartlesville High School’s Custer Stadium, located at 1700 S.E. Hillcrest Drive in Bartlesville. According to BPD Capt. Jay Hastings, Shawnee Street behind the stadium will be blocked off to allow parking for other agency K-9 police vehicles attending the service.

“With heavy hearts the City of Bartlesville recognizes K-9 Apollo’s dedication and service to our community,” Mayor Dale Copeland said during a City Council meeting Monday. “Condolences to Sgt. (and Apollo handler) Troy Newell and his family for their loss as well.”

The public is invited to attend the service.
