Grand Gateway survey closes March 31

March 19, 2018

Washington County residents and visitors have just two weeks left to offer input on a statewide Long Range Transportation Plan that will help prioritize the spending of state and federal funds on transportation projects throughout Oklahoma for the next 25 years.

The Washington County Long Range Transportation Plan will outline strategies and actions for addressing transportation issues and needs, covering all modes of movement, including automobile, transit, bicycle, pedestrian, railroad and freight, as well as intermodal movements.

Public input plays an important role in the development of the plan, and to understand the interests and concerns of all stakeholders, Grand Gateway is asking the Washington County public to participate in completing a survey. According to Marion Stinson of Grand Gateway, the survey is set up to help Grand Gateway gather ideas on how to improve the transportation infrastructure in Washington County.

“We are interested in the community’s opinions and want this to be a plan that explores the interests of the citizens in Washington County,” Stinson said. “The future of our communities depends on the decisions we make today, so let your voices be heard. Tell us your transportation concerns, identify traffic safety problems and share your opinions of the present Washington County Transportation System to help us in developing the Vision for 2040.

“We need your help and your input matters,” Stinson said. “If you do not reside in Washington County but commute, shop or visit here often we also encourage you to participate in this survey.”

A series of public meetings have been ongoing since November 2017. A steering committee/working group is currently being formed to assist with identifying transportation problems and possible projects in Washington County. Contact Grand Gateway if interested in participating in the steering committee/working group.

An online survey is available Grand Gateway’s website, www.grandgateway.org. Surveys are also available at local libraries, town halls and senior centers.
