Mission statement

The Bartlesville Fire Department Honor Guard represents the highest ideals of honor, dignity, professionalism and respect in serving the agency, fire community, families, friends and co-workers of those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

History

The Honor Guard was established on Jan. 31, 2017. The purpose of this highly trained unit is, first and foremost, to appropriately pay tribute to and honor the memory of employees who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty to save lives and protect property. The Honor Guard also provides leadership in difficult times and comfort to fallen firefighters’ families and friends. The unit may also provide services at other events of community importance.

Event criteria
The priority of the Honor Guard is to appear at funeral and memorial services for Bartlesville Fire Department employees who die in the line of duty. Other special event requests for Honor Guard participation may be submitted to the Bartlesville fire chief for consideration. Requests for the Honor Guard must be made with discretion and thoughtfulness, as they are reserved for the highest of honors.
